Gruber suggests that more companies should be secretive like Apple:
Yes, Apple is far more secretive than most companies, but they’re also far more successful. Measured by profit and revenue and growth, wouldn’t it make more sense to argue that most companies should act more like Apple, rather than the other way around?
I really like the idea of more companies challenging the status quo. Just because everyone else does it doesn’t mean that it’s the best way to do it. This is what’s great about working for a startup. The different atmosphere, the willingness to do something different is what’s so attractive about a company when it’s starting. Why criticize a company — big or small — for doing things differently when it works?
